Fiber – They Are NOT All Created Equal!

We all know that as Americans we do not get enough fiber due to our lifestyles of eating a lot of processed foods and VERY little vegetable matter. But with all the fiber products on the market, which one do you choose?

Today, I want to highlight MetaFiber from Metagenics.

If you tend to experience diarrhea and loose stools, this is the one for you! It does not contain any psyllium (i.e. Metamucil), which makes most people feel like their abdomen is blowing up like a balloon until it works through – Yuck!

Some will say the amount of insoluble fiber (does not dissolve in water) in this product is great for constipated people, but I see insoluble fiber as fiber that is “bulking,” making it more suitable for IBS-diarrhea types. Now everybody is different, and you certainly won’t hurt yourself if you take it regardless of whether you are more constipated or one who alternates between constipation and diarrhea.

MetaFiber® is a blend of soluble and insoluble fiber, providing 3 grams of dietary fiber per serving. This low-allergy-potential fiber blend is designed to support healthy intestinal transit time and bowel regularity. * MetaFiber is great for those who are sensitive to psyllium, wheat, corn, or citrus.

Directions: Blend, shake, or briskly stir about 1 level scoop (5 grams) of MetaFiber into 4 fluid ounces of juice or other beverage.
